Finally home from work so here's a few pictures of the bouquets we had on the day
Mine was from Liza on etsy (Letters4lilly) and the felt ones we made
Me and my bouquet (just seen my dad for the first time hence the silly face and the flapping)...
Bit more of a close up...
One of the felt flowers before they were assembled...
One of a felt bouquet (sort of)...
And one of my gorgeous husbandwith his button hole...
I hope those pictures are ok. We could take some pictures of them closer up if anyone needed, just let me know0 -
Fab pics Amy . . . thanks for sharing those. I am making my own button bouquet and was looking at doing felt or something like that for my 16 year old daughters bouquet. I would like hers to have a lot of colour in it.
Can you please tell me what is under your bouquet . . . what i mean is you have 3 or more 'layers' of buttons but when you look between them you can see something else on there stems. Is that more buttons or ?????? Thanks for your help!0 -

Do you mean mine as in the button bouquet? One each stem of that one there are quite a few buttons with a main one at the top and there are different height stems, and below the buttons the stems are wrapped in tape (looks like tape anyway!). There are around 100 stems and then they are bound together with satin ribbon and there is also the collar around the base as well.
Hopefully I've answered your questionIf not, just let me know!

Thanks Amy . . . yes i meant your button bouquet. Its the tape i can see. pleased to see it in detail as i wondered whether my tape colour would matter but seeing it close up i will make sure i get it co-ordinated with the rest of the look.0

If you can co-ordintate it I definitely wouldOn the bridesmaids/buttonholes, we used silver and pink wires, which meant if anyone could see it it would be co-ordinated with the outfits! The fact that the wire on my bouquet is taped cream, probably means it isn't as noticable as it blends in with the buttons

I'm planning a DIY bouquet using felt and buttons. In fact I'm quite obsessed with the idea at the moment so making it myself will give me a project to focus on as I'm not really doing anything productive by just looking at photos online and lusting after something
There is a free tutorial here http://thatjoliegirl.blogs.com/that_jolie_girl/2011/07/hip-hip-felt-flower-tutorial.html/ or if things don't go well I maybe get the tutorial template being sold on Etsy.
I have a question to anyone who as done the DIY route for something like this - do you think it's best to buy the felt flower shapes pre-cut, or to try cutting them myself using templates? I'm a little worried about how difficult it will be to cut them all out neatly. Can anyone recommend a supplier? Most websites seems to suggest using the craft cutter machines, but I don't want to invest in something that I'm not sure will get much if any use afterwards!
If anyone else has pictures to share that would be great? I've looked through the wedding flowers post but only found a couple of pics.0 -
I'm making my own felt flower bouquet and buttonholes (and possibly bridesmaids bouquets and table decs...) and I bought my felt at the weekend
I would definitely recommend using wool felt rather than the cheap acrylic stuff, mine has cost about £20 for the felt so not too bad! For the stems I'm using garden wire, florist tape and bamboo stakes from Wilkinsons which cost next to notthing and I've got a flower tutorial pdf from etsy cos I couldn't find any of the free ones i liked alas! If anyone wants any more details let me know

Where did you get your felt from Katy? I'm on a mission to get mine this week but didn't have much luck yesterday finding some "nice" feeling felt (i.e. the wool stuff). Can you report back how well the cutting out goes?
Does the tutorial recommend how to actually bunch the flowers together, as that's the bit I'm most worried about at the mo!
What is your timescale for making them?0
