in Water bills
HI
I live alone in a semi detached and havwe water and sewage services provided by South Staffs Water
I have not long had the internet and researching has discovered that I should be able to have a single occupancy discount
Can this be back dated and refunded? or put my account with them in credit? As I only found this out from their website.
I have been in the house about 13 months now and its my first house.
Regards Tom

You don't say if you have a meter or not?
I believe you only get the single person discount if a meter can't be fitted and you get the single assessed rate.
If you are paying bills based on your rateable value(RV) you have to apply for a meter.

no i'm not on a meter, I have emailled them
If thats the case then I will go on to a meter, I can't see why they wouldn't be able to fit at my property0 -

They normally only have a problem fitting meters in Flats, although sometimes(rarely) the mains water supply for houses creates problems.
Don't forget that in the unlikely event a meter turns out to be more expensive, you can revert to your current payment method within 12 months.
While you are in contact, check if you are being charged for Surface Water Drainage; and if so can you claim relief from that charge. - search for Surface Water Drainage in this section.0 -
