Should I challenge this parking fine? (with pictures)

Hi all,
I received the parking fine notice from my council and would like to ask for your advice.
If I read the traffic sign correctly, then I could park my car on the right hand side of the road after 10 am during weekdays. That was what I did. However, I still received the fine notice.
This traffic sign also includes another signal, which seemed to say that I could not park my car on the LEFT HAND side of the road during weekdays and even Saturday.
Now, apparently the council was confused over these two signs.
But I need your advice to make sure whether I should challenge.
Pls find attached the two pictures. One is a drawing of the street (forgive me for the bad drawing) and another is the picture of the traffic sign.
The street:

Assuming you parked on the RHS, then definitely challenge. Register at pepipoo.com, upload all the documents (with personal details removed) and seek their helpOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Great. I have followed your advice.0

Which direction is the sign facing? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

You parked to the left of the sign (it's nothing to do with sides of the road). The arrow pointing the way of your parking bay applies, unless the sign was twisted so the arrows were pointing to each side of the road?
BUT!!!! Always, always appeal a Council PCN! There are so many grounds of appeal - Councils nearly always get things wrong in some way during the process - and pepipoo can help people get off most Council PCNS.
Oh, and if no-one on pepipoo mentions it, do be aware that most Councils decline most informal first appeals, seemingly simply 'because they can' and because they want the money. So when you get your first rejection DO NOT think it's game over, instead show a scan or picture of the Council's letters you get, in another reply to bump your pepipoo thread and carry on appealing as far as the adjudicator. Most people win who go that far, or the Councils fold, and all you risk is possibly being told to pay the fine (non-discounted) in the end. All or nothing gamble really, with the odds in your favour.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Normally a sign like this would only apply to the side of the road on which it is placed. I think what has happened is that the sign has moved to be perpendicular to the kerb, when it should be parallel to the kerb.
Hence I think you were parked in a zone which was restricted when you were parking, but as the sign was not positioned correctly, it was misleading. Definitely worth appealing.0 -
Thank you for all your advice, especially Coupon-mad, whose explanation is very clear and helps me understand the issue. I realize that I have parked my car wrongly.0

But you will appeal won't you?! Was the sign twisted so it was pointing to both sides of the road?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi, unfortunately the sign was positioned correctly.
So this is a lesson for me.0 -
