who owns bt line when ending contract

We are moving home and closing our Talktalk broadband contract. The rental of our BT line comes throughTalktalk. Who will own the BT line rental when we close the account? The new owners want to keep our phone number.

If you are paying the line rental to Talk Talk, its no longer got anything to do with BT, TT do not rent out lines on BT,s behalf.

But they still rent the line from BT, surely? (It's just that they're not directly reselling the BT line rental as such - they're containing it in their own packages/bundles. TT still need to use BT Openreach for any line or exchange equipment maintenance).

@OP - I suspect the new owners will NOT get your number, unless they want to retain the TT package and you do a change of ownership. Check out the TT member forums for more info.

    Hi stickywicket,

bod1467 is right if the new owners want to keep the number you will need to complete a change of ownership form, you and they basically agree that they will take over your contract.
