Have a look at the Technical Note published by the Financial Ombudsman Service (click here):In most cases, we assess the market value as the retail price which the policyholder would have had to pay for a comparable vehicle at a reputable dealer, immediately before the date of the damage/theft.
If that is the case then I stand corrected...........it must have changed since I left then..............

Adding one more thing to this topic.
As you are aware in the original post I stated I recorded the third party on the phone. Well in his witness statement to court he said he was actually parked.
I am wondering if this is not actually perjury under the Perjury Act 1911?0
