Freeview and Sky Cable

Just moved in. The place has old sky cables and the rf signal is not being picked up by my freeview box. Not sure how the new dig system works. Im considering picking up an old sky box and attaching it for freeview. Is that how it works?
Any ideas?
thanks

Freeview is received by a TV aerial, not a Sky dish.

Your Sky dish provides Sky, you can also use it for freesat.

If you've got an old Sky box, you can plug it straight in to get Freesat From Sky (not Freesat), assuming that the cabling, dish and LNB are in working order.
Nothing to do with Freeview though.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
