most calls going to voicemail

Options
Hi all

Been having problems with Orange mobile.

My wife and myself both have the same handset, htc desire hd, and both are having the same problems.

1, alot of calls going straight to voicemail
2, phones freezing
3, dropping calls
4, calls nots connecting even though there is signal.

Im self employed and have stated this many times, i could be loosing work due to customers calling me and not getting through, they then might call another tiler and forget about me, not everybody likes leaving a message.

My wife is 8months pregnant and one of the main faults is that we cannot get hold of eachother which is scaring my wife, Orange have been told but have not shown any compassion at all. My wife has suffered 7 miscarriages and this has been passed off as not meaning anything, which i can understand but i bit of common sense to help with the problem would be nice.

Im currently on my 2nd handset having been through countless tests in and around our town. everybody says they will call back in 2 days and i end up calling them after 3 days,no text message to say ive missed their call, which i get when the calls go straight to voicemail. after a while a manager said it had been going on to long and i got a replacement phone,he said he'd call the next day to check i got my phone, surprise he didnt call.

i have been on the phone to Orange customer services for hours over the last 6 months,my upgrade was 21st feb. alot of them tell me things i want to hear then make no notes, "i'll get a different handset after the 3rd replacement" a lie, "i'll see what handsets come in friday and i'll call you saturday to see which one you want" another lie. ive been put on hold for 50mins and had to call back.

had a manager call us on suday at 16.50,said we was just having our roast, said he'd call back in an hour,a different manager called back at 20.30 on a sunday night, had no idea why he had to call us and was so arrogant my wife couldnt talk to him, "i know exactly how you feel" "no you dont,im pregnant and worried i cant get hold of my husband when i go into labour" "of course i dont im a bloke",i asked for a copy of our calls, please can somebody help and let me know if im entitled to get these,i got them from my old insurers, he said "you've been reading the news of the world to much,we dot hack peoples calls or listen in and record them" at this point i lost it a bit!!!!
they said over the last 6 months they dont know why its happening but the signal is fine where we live and all the places ive been working then sunday the manager said its the network and if they test our phones and they are fine then its tough and we have to live with it.where do we stand with that,i'd love to cancel my contract but they all say they cant do it. they are so quick to take our money and so slow to sort out the problem. they want to do all the tests again which is a problem as i have to stop working while on the phone.
there is a lot more they have done or havent done, replacement handset didnt turn up,spent half a day in waiting and it was cancelled but nobody knows why.

rant over, could go on all night lol

any help is greatly appreciated

many thanks for taking the time to just read this post

Have you got any old handsets that still work (and would work with orange). Or can you get an old handset unlocked to work with orange? I would try your orange sim in an old handset and see if this solves the problem. Then take it from there.

I have a Desire HD that I cant even use for phone calls - recieve them fine, no problems and short calls are ok but they tend to drop after a certain time, it tends to stick a lot and loses signal even when the signal is fine. I had my contract cancelled with 3 after I refused to pay for a service I couldnt use and Im paying back £5 a month on a £45 contract. I think its an issue with these phones, not just the network.

  • hi,thanks for the replies.

tried sim in different phone,no problems.
id love to cancel my contract but im self employed and my number is on my cards and i get a lot of work from old customers that would have no way of knowing ive changed number.

is it possible to lower my tariff to a minimum and move my number to another network, as in orange give me a pac code andthen once transfered over give me a new number on existing contract???

Been there, got the T-Shirt with this. Finally managed to escape Orange this month when my contract ended.

All of your problems are caused by the fact the cell site in your area is over subscribed on 3G because there is not enough capacity on it. When there is a free channel you'll be able to make or receive calls but when there isn't you can't make calls and it'll go to answerphone. It'll show full signal strength because that is what it is receiving. There is a simple solution. Go into your phones network settings and set it to GSM only.
