hello,

I wondered if anyone had an idea of how much Three are likely to charge me to to unlock my phone at the end of my contract.

Contract ends at the beginning of October and I have had it after three years with them; rubbish technical support and paying too much so think I will go on PAYG for awhile. Not sure who to go with but O2 look fairly good with text deals.

I currently have an X6 and have never been able to send emails on it, although I receive them fine... is internet expensive on PAYG?

Any other things I should consider?

Thanks
TD

  • Personally I wouldn't have a phone contract with anyone.

I'm a very light user but the £5 top up with 150MB of data is a start.

If you want to go to another network from a quick Google it seems to be £15 for an unlock. Their website is very coy on the cost...

"We'll unlock your Three phone for a one off fee so you can use your phone with any other SIM card. Just give us a call on 333 from your Three phone"

As for your e-mail problem, were you trying to use the "3" SMTP server (smtp.three.co.uk) ?. I've always found that hit & miss.

    Unlocking: http://giffgaff.com/unlock/Nokia-X6-phone

I don't think that O2 can beat giffgaff where you can get unlimited both the texts and the internet for £10

Thank you; thats amazing!! I've never even heard of them but what a saving ;)

The link with giffgaff suggests its still £15 - I will ask with my local shop if he can do anything with it. I resent giving three so much as a toothpick considering all the hassle I have with them; in part there persistant telephone calls to get me to sign up for another contract.

And there's me who has jumped ship from Orange and gone very willingly back to 3, lol.

    Hi Top Drawer

If you do go for giffgaff, would you be so kind as to use my referral link?

Hello. Apologies - I didn't realise it was taboo to do this, but see that I have had my post deleted and so know better for next time.

You'll see from my other posts that I am not in the habit of posting spam.

    Apologies again.
