Well I was just going thru some websites for a phone contract deals and I came across this deals with the below order summary,

Effectively £1.99 monthly with cashback

So Does this mean that I have to pay only £1.99 a month?


Please do explain in simple terms,

    You pay more. £1.99 is the effective cost after/if you successfully (claim and) receive the cashback.

    Very important that you read these and understand fully what cashback entails.

    You pay the full amount to the network (Orange, O2 Vodafone etc) and then, at specific intervals, you reclaim the cashback from the retailer (mobiles.co.uk, dialaphone, e2save, carphonewarehouse, Phones4U etc)

    But you must follow the reclaim process to the letter, and that includes dates, proper paperwork, keeping notes etc. If the reseller goes bust - you lose your cashback.

    Every person that forgets to claim, doesn't follow the procedure to the letter is a bonus for the reseller. And they need a number of claims to fail in order for them to make a profit.

    So, read the links, read the website t&cs and work on the basis that you can afford the full amount without cashback if things go wrong.
