I'll give you £50 for it

are you sure it's not usb2? What are you trying to plug into it, a hard disk? Does it have a mini pci slot for a wireless card?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
its an ipod video so basically a hard drive!
the pci slot is taken up by my mobile internet card.
I'm asking this as itunes seems to crash on me now. I'm thinking its cause it ain't usb 2.0 either that or I need more memory (I only have 512) - this problem has only occurred since they brought out itunes 7.0 -
I have the same problem with my Dell, but it has two card slots. I think Insight have them quite cheapMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
mines is coincidently a dell too. it only has one pci slot.
here are some ideas. how can i check it is actually a usb 1.0 port as i believe it to be.
it appears that the pci slot on my laptop can be removed. could i replace this with a dual one (and where could i get it?).0 -

You should be able to find out whether the USB ports are 2.0 or not (I would lay money on them being 2.0!) and whether they are working by looking at Device Manager (one way in is to right-click on My Computer, choose Manage, then Device Manager), then expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and investigate all the USB Universal Host Controller and USB Root Hub entries. Most of the information will be fairly meaningless to the average user, but they should all show as enabled (i.e. NO red crosses through the icons!). You can probably Google the information in the Universal Host Controller lines to check definitively that it relates to USB 2...
