Looks like the rug is being pulled from under mummyplus3.

Use the Credit card to buy your normal "stuff" and use the money you would have bought "stuff" with to repay the wonga loan...

Or a very slippery and expensive future awaits.

Speedy Cash are the only Payday company with the "Speedy Roo" mascot- so they get my vote on that basis

  • Only slippery if its not paid back I reckon, its abit of a bloody sting for interest though which is annoying, however I had a realitivley good head on my shoulders and wont be getting into debt as such for it. Money in 2 weeks will cover the cost, only reason i've got to do it this way is because i've forgotten the pincode for my credit card or I wouldnt need the loan, however after watching one of the kids rip themselves open tripping over nails in the floor because of the idiots here before us, i'd rather stump up the extra £30 it will cost me in interest :) Plus can't bulid up good credit unless i utilise what i've got sensibly can I? :)

Unless anyone fancies lending me £250 for 5 days from friday :D

Cash on a Vanquis? I would have to need a new kidney before I took cash out on their HUGGGGEEEEEEE rates for cash advances.

Surely you could get a new PIN code in a day or two.

5 working days, plus an extra day for the re-direct as i've just moved which is why i've forgotten the pin! Plus its the bank holiday.

It's not ideal to withdraw cash but some of us don't have a great deal of options available unfortunatly so rather than trying to make me feel bad about trying to improve my situation, maybe you should just feel lucky you don't have to be in my shoes :)

What, you mean for the financial coffin OP's about to lower himself into? :rotfl:

On a serious note; I get the impression OP has this under control really... as per my situation above, PDL companies do have a place, its just unfortunate that so many people don't understand money, rates etc. well enough not to get into trouble with them. And that's not the PDL companies' fault is it. To be fair they're all upfront about exactly what it'll cost, and even list their horrendous APR/AERs in very easy to see type. Everything is explained openly and in as much detail as you could want; and lets face it, there's not an awful lot of detail to explain.
OP; I would suggest talking to your local credit union, there's a fair chance they could offer you £300 to start with at a much better rate, help you budget and make some savings all in one go. Granted you might have to go through the crazy scheme you have planned initially, but paying it back via the credit union will save you lots of interest charges, plus you'll start to build up savings while you're at it. I currently have £300 with mine, I pay it back at £10 per week, and £10 into savings with them. Once the loan is paid in 6 months I'll have £300 savings too. The rate's high (26% I believe) but its cheaper than either PDL or Vanquis. Even cheaper than many bank's overdrafts, especially on the new daily rates. Plus it builds back up your credit for the future. A definite consideration.

Not really true, if you carry a balance on a Vanquis card it will cost you thousands in the end, and the interest chraged on cash advances would cripple Alan Sugar let alone some poor skint mum who wants a carpet.

I would honestly think again but that's me I guess.
