Another thread where the OP clearly sets out his requirements and people feel they have to advise something completely different. This is really, really tiresome. About time we had moderation to cut out the off-topic responses.

Getting to the root cause of a problem offers a chance of solving it.

    Taking a PDL doesn't.

For future instances, yes. But the only reason the OP would suggest a PDL is if the money was needed more imminently than working out a budget to save for it would find it.
However, it's good advice above to talk to your bank first about short term overdraft.

Also some will want to verify employment, bank statements, where as Wonga;s is completed done by the PC, and money in 15minutes.

I believe I tried them once, and they wanted to contact my payroll dept. first. Unfortunately it was a Saturday. They sometimes still want to verify...

  • I need a payday loan for approx 5days and will go through quidco and wonga, I need £250 so will pay £18.10 in interest (effectively £3.10 after cashback) I only need the loan as i've lost the pin number for my Vanquis card! and need to get carpet fitted this weekend, I think thats quite reasonable TBH but we are leaving the loan untill the latest possible time to get it so it cuts down on interest :) - Then will just pay if off with my credit card and repay that in the next month. Unfortunatly I cannot get an overdraft even temporary!

Wow mummy, you're juggling two forms of ultra high interest finance there, like going for a swim in The Amazon and wondering if the piranha fish will get you before the crocs, dangerous waters indeed.

I would wait on the old carpet if they were my only two choices.

  • I'll just take it out as cash. There is no carpet so not a great deal of choice, none on freecycle either we've looked, the floors are to dangerour to leave them as they are. Luckily i'm not in any debt and I can afford to pay off the 250 (plus interest) two weeks after i've borrowed it, from my bank but after everything we've just shelled out on removal costs and unexpected repairs needed we're a few hundred short :)

Anyway I love abit of danger me :D
