Wish I'd never started dying my hair!

I did the blonde highlights previously but my hair is so dark that it was very high maintenance. Has anyone tried DIY highlights using a kit (I'm still trying to be MSE about this)? At one stage I was spending over £120 every 4-6 weeks at the hairdressers keeping the highlights looking reasonable, which is why I just went back to dying it dark brown.

Never been brave enough to DIY after a nasty experience with Glints back in the 1980s!!
You should only need to do it once or at most a couple of times just to blend the undyed hair with the dyed hair.0 -

Hair mascara is pretty cheap (I buy it from Ebay, but you can get them from several places - and the ones I buy are made by L'Oreal). I've just had a quick look on Ebay, and L'Oreal black ones are going for 99p with £1 postage), so it may be worth a bit of experimenting.

Hi have you got a link to the black ones on ebay please? I've just looked but can't find them?
Also, do they dry "crispy" like normal mascara (which I have been known to use on my parting in an emergency
and actually covers ok except for the crispiness!)
See below for Ebay links:

I can't see any L'Oreal black ones on there at the moment, but there usually all colours there. Avon apparently do one as well (?)
Hope this helps.

I forgot to answer your other question: the ones I use don't dry 'crispy' - but I can only confirm that of the ones I've used (the gold/blonde ones).0
