Hello

I am looking to buy my wife a nice camera phone and looking for suggestions. We've 2 small kids and she would like to be able to use the camera at every opportunity.

I bought her a HTC Wildfire S phone as Iphone was too expensive, but still camera pics on HTC are not coming very nice. I guess there is no image stabilizer on HTC.

Also looked at Blackberry Curve 8520 but it only comes with 2 MegaPixel camera!

Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

How about a Nokia N8? It's a decent camera with an average phone attached to it.

The size of ther chip in the camera limits MP output, they then use software to up size the image, so anything over 1480 pixles (1.4 mp,) is an absolute gimmick.

I think generally some SE phones have the best cameras. Nokia goes the second.

Samsung phones have very good cameras - Galaxy S II and Omnia 7 beat out even the HTC Sensation's camera no question.

As others have said, Nokia N8 and Sony Ericsson Phones with the "Exmor" lens are good, too.

Megapixel count isn't the be-all and end-all, it's the quality of the sensor and lens as well as the software behind it that makes the difference, not the number of pixels. My OH's 5MP on his Omnia 7 is much better indoors and at night than my Sensation's 8MP.

Thanks for your quick replies. What are SE phones?

Nokia N8, Samsung Galaxy S2 and Omnia 7 seem quite expensive to buy and loose. Please bear in mind that these phones are at the mercy of kids at some times...

You are probably right about megapixels. HTC wildfire is 5 mega pixel but most pics come blurred as it never stabilizes itself while taking a pic.

I think the best are those with xenon flash. For the current models see

Use 'Features' filter for other options.

OP - do you genuinely mean "buy" or are you looking at contracts?

If buying outright, then go into CPW where they sell the phones unlocked to any network, so your wife can choose which network she wants.

As for quality & features, then you should check out which ones have flash, zoom, effects etc. Some have great lenses but are missing some essential camera features.

Guys dad, genuinely mean "buy". Her contract does not expire anytime soon.

Don't think going in a store would help. I would rather take feedback from other helpful users and know what I need to buy before I get into a store or look online.
