Advice needed, to claim on contents insurance???

Hello,

Wondering whether anyone can give me some advice.

Just started contents insurance policy (June) not had any claims before on previous policies (had one about 5 years ago).

Have lost my engagement ring I have no idea where I have lost it, its difficult to come of, could be anywhere, have searched everywhere I can think of.

Have on my policy the clause where contents are protected outside of your home.

Value of ring is £350, my excess if £250, replacement ring of similar style is £400.

Do I claim on the insurance and get the £100 for the ring or do I leave it and try and find the money myself somehow?

For a small claim like this do you think it would affect my premiums at all???

Personally I'd say probably not worth it - the effect a claim is likely to have on your premiums is almost certainly going to be more than £100 over the time you'll have to declare it.

Have you reported it to the police as lost?
