do a route from airport on http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp?database=E its free ,also do reverse route back to airport. If you are planning sightseeing, do as many routes as neccessary.
I've found driving in Spain easy.Remember to have loose euros for the motorway tolls. You can also pay with credit card (Tarjeta)

Insurqance in Spain does not cover tyres or windowscreens ! check with car Hire company. Ensure you have a good map and plan your trip regardless of where you are driving. In towns and Cities they dont tolerate stop starting at functions and use there horns and hand alot :rotfl:

Zebar crossing are optional to stop or not I tend to slow down but not stop but again please check.

Check you have a disposal camera with you in case. and ensure you have Bright yellow waistcoat in the glove box if you breakdown or get a puncture its the Law.

Unlike the UK which is normally strict about everything, in Spain use of Tomtom/GPS devices are illegal and so are bluetooth headsets.

Believe you will also need spare pair of glasses for driver, spare bulbs warning triangle and illuminous vest. Also best to take dlicense and insurance documentation.

Also keep your passport with you at all times, in case you get stopped by police, as they have power to detain you if you have no id if they really wish to.

nothing stopping your wife using it and directing you!

remember they drive on the other side of the road is the main thing. You do not want a repeat of Del Boy's antics in Miami Twice (Only Fools and Horses)...!

  • It also depends whereabouts in the country you are driving

I have a few times in Andalucia near the Portugese border and there isnt much traffic around compared to the UK

However you get nearer the more populated areas and into the big Cities it gets a lot busier.

Rather than driving in the big cities themselves I have always parked up outside the city and got a bus/train/tram into the centre itself
