Upgrading early - T-mobile

My current contract is for 18 months and when I text 150, it says I can upgrade in January.
The phone I have atm is slowly dying and i'm not so sure it will last til January.
Last time I upgraded they offered me it a few months earlier for being a "loyal customer".

Generally speaking, what is the earliest T-mobile allow you to upgrade, based on experience? If not, how much would they charge to upgrade in September with 4/5 months left on the contract?

I am not sure, but I suspect it would be cheaper to buy a new PAYG handset now then when your contract is up tell them you want to leave and wait for some really good SIM-only retention offers! If they let you upgrade early they might offer much poorer deals.
  • im with t mobile and you can upgrade 3 months before your contract is due up, but the deals will be nowhere near as good as if you wait until a month before
