Tales from a country cottage

Managed to make it through my day without collapsing or overspending so am quite chuffed.
Just got the timetable through for my course. It turns out I dont have to stay over every week, possibly only every second week. This is brilliant as I dont think I could have afforded it.
Well pleased today. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -

Hi turfy
Good to see you. I'm not sure this is the most rivetting diary ever written but it's certainly helping keep me on track!
Just did the weekly food shop and came in £9 under budget. Progress.
I'm away camping so won't be updating til Sunday. Have a lovely weekend everyone. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Hope you have a nice weekend (and early paydays are always the best!)Thank you competition posters!

I need to quit smoking! AGAIN!
Make a big jar and label it Christmas - when you don't smoke then put the money into the jar so the less you smoke, the better Christmas will be (you'll have to keep a note of how many you smoke over a few weeks and then assign a 'price' to each cigarette. So if you work out you smoke 20 a day on average and then you cut it down to 10 (or even zero!), you can put your 20p (or whatever) for each cigarette in the jar.
Good luck (and the cottage sounds lovely)0 -
have a lovely camping weekend.
I like the idea of a non-ciggie jar for christmas savings, it will be a good challenge0 -
I'm back from my camping trip. It was BRILLIANT! The weather was great (despite the severe weather warning of high winds and torrential rain...it never happened) and we had a lovely time. I dipped my toes in a loch, saw some spectacular scenery and wildlife, cooked over an open fire and had some great chats with my oldest friend. I'm also slept really well which is unusual for me in a tent and feel pretty well rested. It's all good.
But back to reality...and how to shift £14k of debt.
Lemontree and Soubrette...the ciggie money jar sounds like a great idea. I'm going to rummage throught the recycling for a suitable jar and get started with that tomorrow. Thanks.
I've been turned down for the 0% transfer card. I don't know why and they never say do they? It looks like I'll have to keep paying those crazy interest rates. Capital one cards are number one on my list of priorities to get paid off.
I managed not to spend any cash this weekend and OH only spent £12 so we've done ok. My travel expenses are due to be paid this week so that's another £220 to go in the pot.
I think I'll away and have a look at the numbers and try to work out how much can get put towards debt this month. Back soon.
Thanks everyone for keeping my thread cosy while I was away.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Try another 0% card - they are not all the same. I have applied for 2 at the same time - one turned down the other accepted......... maybe you could find card with a low rate of interest that stays low for the balance - Barc**ys do one I think - that will help with the interest on those capital one cards. Your weekend sounds lovely - hissed it down here most of weekend although have had a spectacular sunset this eveningBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
