And another vote here for keep xmas simple, if I'm not working then the day is spent watching vidio's, unless there is a new film on that OH and I want to watch and doing a pork or beef roast dinner, if I am at work then I cook the meat on my day's off, slice and freeze and then it's a case of just the veg to do.

:eek:Blast! You'v just reminded me, I'v got a birthday card to do tonight.

Different_Corner...yes that would have been me, constantly trying to quit smoking and failing miserably every time. How are you doing with it?

Igamogam...your christmas sounds lovely. It really does. Me and OH tried one year to give each other 5 small presents at £1 each and one had to be home made. We thought we were above such consumerist rubbish as christmas presents. However, I was miserable on the day and vowed never to do that again. :o

Boultdj...away and make that card. :D

Today was fairly uneventful. I managed to get a lift to my meeting, organise a lift for tomorrow and scored a dozen eggs from my work colleague who keeps chickens and said I could pay whenever. All good money saving stuff.

Still waiting for news of the credit card.

Have a lovely evening everyone. :D

It's another lovely morning here at the cottage. I woke in time to see the sun rise and the kitchen and sitting room glowed bright red. I love it. Everything looks magical. I keep reminding myself you can't buy these moments of enjoyment. Ahhh...:) The pheasants are nowhere to be seen, hopefully all off sleeping somewhere. I hope they've picked the grass free of weeds. It;ll save me doing it.

    Plan for today is:
    • Get a lift to work with my pal
    • Free lunch today as we're in a different base for a 3 1/2 hour training session
    • Buy some filters at the cost of around 77p
    • Home by 3pm-ish and do some serious cleaning
    • Another quiet night in. There's some good scary movies on just now.
    • More rummaging for christmas things and possibly start a shopping list
Everything seems fairly under control at the moment. Just waiting for pay day to roll round. It's a horrible feeling, knowing that if disaster struck (as it did last week when the car broke down) I'd be defenseless. This has to change.

I'm starting a course soon, 1 day per week. It's quite far away but I've managed to source cheap train tickets. I'm a little worried if I don't book them soon I'll end up paying full price which is 3 times as much. I need to get onto this as soon as I get paid.

Also need to stay overnight in a far away city for my course. Anyone heard of or used couch-surfing website? Think I'm going to give it a try.

Have a wonderful day everyone. :)

Woo hoo! I'm going camping this weekend to my favourite loch in the world! And possibly in the last weekend possible this year since autumn appears to be arriving early. I'm very excited. Cheap fun. I haven't had a holiday or even a short break away in such a long time.

    Need to get planning...

Not sure I like the sound of 'couch surfin' But Travel*dge and Pr*mier Inns often have autumn sales and you an get some very cheap rooms which of course can include eat as much you like breakfast - look on their websites. Unfortunately deals are not in every location but you migh be lucky :)

Thanks Igamogam. I've checked out B&Bs and could easily get one for £25. £100 per month may break the bank. Saying that, I don't really fancy wandering round some strange city at 11pm looking for a strangers house to kip on their sofa. I like the idea of offering such a gesture of goodwill but the reality may be horribly unpleasant. We'll see.

Just checked my work email and discovered I'm getting paid a day early...tomorrow! This could not have come at a better time. :j

It's a chilly morning here at the cottage. It doesn't feel like August at all. I've started to worry about the oil bill and thinking we'll probably use loads this winter again, especially if it snows. I need to get OH onto sorting out the windows.

My wage has gone into the bank, thank goodness, so I need to fill up the car and buy some bits of shopping. Hopefully will manage to stay within the budget.

Just got £20 in the post from my mum...bless her. I feel too old to get bailed out by her but too poor to refuse. :o

I looked out all my camping gear last night and am ready to go. Just need to buy in the grub which will hopefully fall within our weekly food budget.

Had a NSD by mistake yesterday. Forgot to pick up the filters. :)

    Have a lovely day everyone.
