Extension built in 1982 - should it have a Building Regulations Completion Cert?

Hi. First post on here so please bear with me!
Because of an application for planning permission at the back of our house we have been looking at the land registry plans for us and surrounding houses and noticed that our property's boundaries (of the actual building not the land) does not include an extension that was built in 1982. Firstly does this matter? Should the land registry plans be accurate in regards to building outlines?
Secondly we have copies of the planning permission and building regulations approval granted in 1982 when the extension was built but there is no actual completion certificate. Does this matter? Should there be one? Were they even around then?
The reason for asking this is that because the land registry plans aren't accurate the application for planning permission at the rear of our property does not show accurate measurements between the proposed development and the back of our house which is actually pretty significant but I don't want to be calling up the council about this inaccuracy if its then going to create problems because there was no completion certificate! Does that make sense?
Any ideas?!

I am pretty certain that building regs certs weren't issued in 1982. I can't remember exactly when they came it, 1984 rings a bell but I've got a little voice in my head saying mid-90's. But either way, completion in 1982 would not have triggered a certificate.0
