OP, is your daughter budding yet? If she is it coul be that her hearbeat is more noticeable where she's getting more fleshy there.

It's often the case that once you see this sort of thing it becomes more noticeable to you (even though it's always been there). If you're happy that she's healthy in herself then just try to distract her or laugh it off if she brings up the subject, ie well at least we know you're still alive now let's go and do some swimming/get an icecream etc

If you're not 100% happy with her health or even slightly concerned then pop her along to a doctor or even ring NHS direct (or whatever it's called) and ask their advice. Even if you're abroad on holiday I'm sure someone will be able to give you a phone number for them and it'll be worth the cost of the call to reassure yourself. Do they have a contact us on their website you could use?

Thanks for your replies - sorry we've had very sketchy access for the last few days so I couldn't get online.

She is fine at the moment, but none of the rest of us can see our heart beats visibly and she got really scared thinking she's ill or something. She is delightfully covered (not skinny) so it's not like she'd have veins close to the skin I wouldn't have thought. She also knows a child who died recently from an illness and is probably extra sensitive. We don't know all the details as we aren't close to the family, but the kids are aware.

I have to go to the doc when I get back next week for an ear infection of sorts, so will ask if it's a concern then. I'm very encouraged to see other people can see their hearts pumping away - (peachyprice especially):).

We have been laughing it off for her benefit, but thought I'd ask on here anyway.
