It is not factored in MY WORDS [rest assured] [Your words the price Im being quoted does indeed include the £105 discount factored in, and is not something in addition to it] It is something you do get in ADDITION to it REST ASSURED BUT IT IS YOUR CHOICE AND SO NPOWER DO PULL OFF A TARIFF £100 CHEAPER IV'E NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD and more so with fix 5

You're either not making yourself very clear or you are wrong.

When uSwitch or energyhelpline quote me £844 for Npowers SignOnline tariff, that price includes the £105 discount at the years end. Simple as that. If you still don't understand, go punch in your figures from the comparison site into npowers own website and you'll see a breakdown of the figures. It clearly shows that the price £844 is only arrived at after £105 discount has been included.

I'm in the same boat as you and have found this thread very interesting. I wanted to sort out my next provider by today and it looks like I'll just be logging into my E-On account and switching to their SaveOnline 9 product.

The price in uswitch/energy/linx does not include the £105 discount Believe it or not rest assured it's Worth over £8 per month Forget npower site use normal comparison sites eg uswitch, energy linx etc then you will not be confused. If npower comes top of other providers it's a bonus and a 2nd bonus is the £105 if it does not come top deduct the £105 and see how it comperes now I cannot make it any clearer [they are giving you extra cash take it do not wonder why 'they do it' take it Atlantic is the same The price you see in the comparison sites is the price you pay Atlantic and Atlantic after 12 direct debits they give you a 12th back of your yearly payments say you pay £100 per month for your electric and gas Atlantic pay straight into your bank account £100 after 12 direct debits no catch I've been receiving it for years It's just this year npower fix5 were the cheapest and that did not take into account £105 an extra bonus I was always looked after with this with Atlantic £100 their parent company Southern never paid it so I never went with Southern Always [no catch cash back with Atlantic] and now no catch £105 with Npower as an [extra bonus to the price you see on comparison sites] Comparison sites also give you money back direct into your bank account my cash back this year £34 is equal to nearly £3 per month off my electric and gas bill I took it

I've just been back to Npower's website and gone through their quote process. The end result is, when compared to E-On's SaveOnline 9 (what I'd switch to if I remained with E-On), I'd be £66.86 worse off (the saving was a negative). However, it's slightly confusing as to whether this includes all the applicable discounts.

    Expanding the quote details:
Please note all payments shown include VAT. Payments include applicable discounts, except the monthly Direct Debit payment.
    Also,
Your annual discount: If you pay by monthly Direct Debit continuously for 12 months we'll give you a discount off your bill (£100 if you buy both electricity and gas, £50 if you buy just gas or £40 if you buy just electricity). Your discount will be credited to your account on or before the last day of the 12th month after becoming eligible and then on or before the same last day of each year you continue to pay this way
To me, and I'd appreciate confirmation either way, this says the annual discount of £100 is not including and is indeed a 'bonus' applied after your 12th monthly direct debit.

So, with £100 at the end of the year and £40 cashback from Quidco, Npower would appear to be cheaper.

    However, it also says:
Your monthly Direct Debit payment includes your annual discount in the first year.
In your first year with npower any product or payment discounts you’re entitled to will also be built into your monthly payment amount. Please remember, if you decide to leave us or stop meeting the conditions of the discount, e.g. you stop paying by Direct Debit, before the end of the first 12 months, you won’t receive your discount and you may find your monthly payments haven’t covered the energy you’ve used.
So all discounts are applied monthly. So I'd be £66.86 worse off, including their £100 annual, but applied monthly, discount. But leave them early and they take this back. So like qxt123 says - it's another exit penalty.

This is doing my head in. I'm following links on Npower's website and they're taking me in circles. If they can't make it simple before they have my business, I fear for how they'll be when/if they actually have it.

I give up I will enjoy my 105 pound bonus in 9 months time no catch npower/ atlantic giving a little back no catch a real bonus the proof is in the pudding i've been there and received

George, no one is denying that Npower will pay the discount after you've been paying them DD for a year. What we are saying however, is that the £105 discount is included within the price you see on the comparison websites. I find it amusing that you tell me to avoid Npower's own website in this matter and trust what you're saying.

In fact, I've just come off the phone with uSwitch and they've clearly stated the price you see on their websites includes the £105 discount. If you now continue to insist one would get an extra £105 discount on top of the prices both Npower and the comparison sites both quote, you'll be deliberately misleading people and make me wonder what interests you have pushing this tariff in the face of such explicity proof you're wrong.

Sponge, this is what the deal is:

The price you get quoted by the comparison sites and indeed by Npower themselves is based on annual consumption figures and assumes you will be with them for a year in order to qualify for their £105 (seems its change to £100 now?) discount. You will not receive the £105 discount over and above the quoted price on the comparison sites. They do not pay this discount in one lump sum at the end of the year, rather by giving you discount with each DD payment. If you leave them before 12 DD payments have been made, they'll want the extra money back.

I decided to stick with E-On and their SaveOnline 9 tariff.

Price you see on the comparison site is the price you pay plus the £105 you get back after 12 direct debits Same with all the other providers but they do not give you £100 the only other I know of is Atlantic Electric and Gas I received their £100 a 12th of of the annual payment for many years Nothing wrong with Npower site I prefer energylinx + others for cash back Should you leave before the 12 months is up they do not [npower ] remove £105 You may have exit penalty
