If your Virgin router is set to he hidden then you'll have to manually enter in the SSID and password in the kindles settings.
Also if you go to "menu" then "Settings" what version of Kindle are you running?
Current is V3.1Laters

Thanks, its the latest Kindle.
Where do I find the password etc? I don't use a password for my laptop.
Can anyone help with the drag and drop please?
Thanks0 -
just plugged Kindle into pc and transferred some books from Calibre. It says they've gone to device. When I check device on pc they're there but when I look on Kindle they aren't there. They are MOBI format.
The Kindle has found my Virgin wifi and asks for a password. I don't have one, or manual connect;
connection type DHCP Static ?
IP address, won't let me type in the next 4 fields
security type: none WEP WPA WPA2
can anyone please advise?

Check the bottom of your Virgin Wireless box for a "pass key" or "Password" usually 8 characters long with upper and lower case letters and numbers. usually underneath the "SSID:" name.
Enter that into the kindle when asked for the password.
If you set Calibre up it usually akses you what device you're going to sync with. Select "Amazon kindle 3" it will then default to Kindle friendly formats when converting.
Also try going to "Menu" and select "Sync & Check for Items" see what shows up now...Laters

many thanks for your help, no 8 digit letter. Two very long numbers
serial and mac, then password:password. Tried that, doesn't work. How do you set it up manually?
Thanks again0 -

this option isn't lit up and isn't an option. I think the problem might be I can't register until I get a wifi connection?0 -

thanks,
version3.2.10 -
Ahh!
3.2.1 kindle is the Ad-Supported one (Well for US customers the screen saver shows ads and special offer deals from time to time) It's not turned on in the UK yet.
My kindle is still on 3.1, most older ones are. Amazon only put 3.2.x on newer or reconditioned Kindles at the moment.
Not sure why it's not accepting the password for your wireless...
Automatic mode should work with the password!Laters
