Here are some pics of my decorating so far with paint names:

We have Buttermilk in our kitchen - I would say it's yellow, not cream/neutral.

There should be a website where people post pics of how paint colours look in real life. :) Obviously the look varies a lot depending on the natural and artificial light in the room (not to mention the camera used) but I'd find it useful for inspiration.

Currently underway is our bedroom which is going to be Dulux Barley White. We have oak furniture and burgundy curtains so we wanted something very light on the walls (but not white). I think we will use the same in our second bedroom, lounge and dining room. Our lounge is north-facing so quite dark and is currently a dark terracotta - not a good look.

Haven't decided yet on the study and hall/stairs. I think for the study I'll either do it the same green as the bedroom/library in the pics above, or look for a teal type colour.

For the hall/stairs I want a light colour (not much natural light) but I don't want to use the Barley White as there'll be too much of it.
  • So many choices, Arghhhhhhh, I wanted the kitchen a pale yellow, so buttermilk looks like the choice for the kitchen, was also thinking Dulux Cookie Dough for the living room but unsure how dark it would be as I have the staircase in the living room which is walnut along with the window frames and flooring.

It's tester pot time Debtworry :)
  • Just went to buy some tester pots, and typically they never had butter milk or cookie dough testers, so I bought buttermilk to do my kitchen with, does anyone know if the buttermilk will go over magnolia or will I need to go over the magnolia with white first ?
  • Thanks Andrew
