Talking to someone. I am a strong believer in a problem shared is halved. My husband is my main support and the first person I turn to. Sometimes though I will phone my dad, he has a very different perspective on things from me and that often helps. A few of my friends are great listeners and give sound advice. It really depends on what is worrying me or making me feel down.

I hate those awful wake up in the middle of the night and worry in the dark moments. Everything always seems much bigger and worse than it really is then hey. Nothing else for it than to come downstairs make myself a hot chocolate and watch 'John Bishop' :).
That bloke has saved my soul many a night I can tell you.

A lot of people are lonely and they find it hard to talk about but you have made the first step.

Perhaps you could arrange a girlie night in and you could talk and do hair and make up ect.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

You think of the people who love you, and how they would feel if you stopped being there. You live by the day, if that's what it takes. And whenever you feel a positive urge inside you, you use it to go to your doctor and ask for help. You're not alone.

I throw myself into work, whether that's my job or housework, anything physical that takes my mind off things for a while.
Worst times really are at nights. I'm an insomniac so when the OH sleeps and the world is quiet, it can seem so lonely and of course, time stretches then. So I read a lot too, but try to keep the books upbeat or at least enthralling.
Speaking entirely personally...I find it hard to talk about such a thing with others because of the feeling of guilt, (usually entirely unfounded!) of burdening others. I know that's wrong so hope you aren't like me and find someone to talk to, because I'm sure as another poster has said, a problem shared is a problem halved. :)

My OH always calls her Mum for an hours chat (at least) and does the housework till she falls over.

I go geocaching for hours and wear myself out, then crash in front of something interesting on the box. Or go and see a friend and put the world to rights over a beer or two.

Wish it was always that easy though :D
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Hope you're feeling better soon. I try and get out for a brisk walk or cook a really nice meal or a cake to cheer myself up. I also have a look around the forum on here. I always find a post that manages to put my problems into perspective and make me realise that my life isn't really so bad after all (and that's even with me having a son with a life shortening muscle disease). The happy pills I've got from the doctor also help :o
  • thanks
i guess i just have to try and stop thinking about things that are worrying me that i can do nothing about
