Well I think I have found new energy to get back out there and canvass my new area as well as re canvass some of my old streets again. Set up a brand new spreadsheet with all info under one sheet (inspired by IGeek) so thank you for that, Im hoping that it will be easier to handle as my spreadsheet before had tabs for each campaign plus a tab for customers i had given gifts to but have managed to put it in ONE spreadsheet so I can now see how much total spend per customer and since I started to last June.
I've thought long and hard about becoming a SL and I think for the time being I have enough to do and would rather spend the time and energy on my own customers building that up more than risking loosing money trying to get others started up. Maybe in the future, im not ruling it out totally but just for now I think. I feel like my own business is in the infancy stages still so have plenty time to expand later on
I can't wait to see these new nail items you are all on about.
Pixtotts - that sounds interesting about your meeting at Mc Donalds. Is this normal? I mean the meetings in general not necessarily the location?
I get lots of emails from my ASM but only to remind me to place my order or to say thank you for placing an order (automated im sure) but would be quite intreagued as to what a meeting would be all about.
Keep me updated Pixtotts as to how it all goes.0 -
Meetings for reps - myself and another rep (different area) have also been invited to meetings recently so I think it's something more ASMs are starting to see the value of. Mine was sold as a meeting to try out new products, no mention of sales leadership. In the past any meetings (country-wide) seem to have been geared towards turning reps into SLs. Although my ASM has had about 1 meeting a year that was just about products. I didn't go, but it certainly wasn't sold as "Turn up to learn more about being a SL". My local one is at a shop (I guess with a cafe?) on an industrial estate.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

I know the ASM emails you mean, I think she has me in 2 groups in her emails too because I get every email twice! lol.
I'm quite intrigued by it, the location puts me off big time, but I'm thinking I might go and test the waters... Like I, Geek said there is no mention of SL stuff. It's sold as boost your earnings, hear real life stories from special guests, network, and try out some products and get a sneak peek of whats up and coming in the brochure...
2 hours long, and says to bring a notebook and pen...
It's not my kind of thing, I don't really like people, well I do, but just thinking about it I feel rather anxious, but I might have to go just to find out what it's all about lol.

I've been reading, and I'm really interested in the SL/ASM dynamics.
I signed up via the Avon website just before Christmas, and it was the ASM who contacted me to meet, who gave me my books & stationery, who's been texting and calling and staying in touch. She's lovely. She's been to my house once per campaign, always adds a personal touch to everything, remembers my son's name and whatnot. I've not been told whether I have a SL or not.
When I enquired about being a SL - obv wouldn't do it for a while, but I wanted to know more - she said that being a SL just involves recruitment and that she'd take care of leadership, encouragement, meetings and so on. Is this normal? I'd expect being a SL to be more involved than just signing them up online and leaving them alone. It sounds like it is, from this thread. Is my situation different because I signed up online, rather than being recruited?0 -
Raevolutionary I signed up online too! and no you have no SL, your ASM is effectively your sales leader... and ASM. I'm in exactly the same position, only I have a pants ASM, so wish I had a SL to go to about problems before her hmmph! Sorry I'm bitter lol.
But to answer your question I was under the impression that the SL is supposed to do those things, and that SL is first point of call if SL doesn't or can't help then you go to ASM. So as a SL you'd do what your ASM does for you, or that's what is supposed to happen. Sounds like your ASM likes to take the reins a little for her SL she must be so so busy!

The SL Role - maybe what your upline meant by encouragement, meetings etc.. was that she puts on events for the wider downline and sends out emails? As a SL you would still be the one who meets up with each rep several times to train them. Your upline should come with you for at least your first sign-up, though, to make sure you're confident. Beyond that you'd also be available to your downline via phone/email if they had any questions.
That said, the SL programme is changing soon and no details have been released yet. Who knows what changes that will make to the SL role?I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here.
