That makes more sense. How much do you spend on bills? You will only save about £80 (13.33%) a year upgrading your 78% efficient boiler to one which is 90% assuming you use an average amount of gas. (£600 per year-16,500kWh). This will cost you £1,829. Is it worth it? No. I'd wait until the boiler cannot be repaired any more.

I would try and make them last the full 15 years that has been estimated.
Looking at it another way. If it keeps breaking down it costs you money to fix it and then loss of earnings waiting in for a repair.
Way up your opinions , I changed a 2 year old boiler in my house because I didn't want the hassle of it breaking down all the time.
I have changed lots of boilers that are less than 10 years old, mainly because the customers are fed up of them breaking.

Don't want to highjack the thread but we need a new boiler sooner rather than later. We currently have a Baxi back boiler in our house (built in 1993) is there much benefit from having all new pipework or would a "power flush" be as good?...We are expecting to replace some single radiators with doubles..

The system will be fine. Just a good clean.
