I made my own set for approx £20 but thats another story.

How would one go about making their own flexible chimney rods? I need flexible ones to clean the new liner but have just seen the price of them!

If you have Taps & dies etc.

I bought my 12mm nylon rods in 3 metre lengths from - http://www.directplasticsonline.co.uk/Nylon_66_Rod.html
I only needed 3 as I live in a bungalow. I also bought a 500mm length of 25mm rod to make the connectors from which was cut into 80mm lengths. I tapered the ends then drilled & tapped them and cut the same 12mm thread onto the 3 x 3M lengths of rod.
The brush was bought from here - http://www.hotline-chimneys.co.uk/products.asp?category=Chimney+Sweeping&subcategory=Chimney+Sweeping+Brushes You need to tap one of your adaptors with the same thread as on the brush.
You need a brush 1 inch larger than your flue liner diameter in general.

    Hope this helps.

  • Check your home insurance policy...

Most insurance companies require you to have your chimney swept professionally at least once a year. It only costs £40 - £50 and is an important safety measure!
