Does that mean you have to apply for the upgrade before 31st March, or have to actually have received it and installed by that date?

If it's an upgrade then no, your programs and files will remain in situ, though drivers may not run correctly depending on whether peripheral manufacturers have adapted new drivers for vista :think:i-luv-free-stuff wrote:is this the free upgrade page people ar talking about?

My mate got a Sony Vaio yesterday with Vista pre-installed. It's alright but I won't be in a hurry to change from XP.
Some of the software that came pre-installed doesn't even work and you get a message saying 'This software is not compatible with Vista. Please check website for an upgrade'. When I tried to upgrade it took ages and I gave up. I didn't spend too long on it though coz I was just sorting out his LAN/wireless settings and installing Office Pro 2003.
His printer also wouldn't work and it's less than a year old.
Seems like a lot of hassle to me!0
