on the needle front, a lot of charity shops won't sell knitting needles as they can be construed as weapons!!

I think a lot of charity shops don't have them on display, but kept safely in the back. :D

saw an advert the other day for one of those weekly hobby magazines that you're meant to collect forever - this one was about knitting -with "free" needles, yarn and a DVD.

not that i'm suggesting anyone go out and buy it, but in few weeks there's bound to be loads of copies given to charity shops or listed on ebay!

i actually bought that it was 99p..for the first issue with the dvd and all the stuff that came with it that you mentioned it was well worth it for me..i just didnt bother to get the rest of the issues..dont need it..the first issue tells ya the basics..

Hi guys, just wanted to say that my family own a small knitting and sewing shop, selling just about anything you need or could want to do with knitting and sewing. I'm in the process of getting our website up and running (a bit late as the shops been open for about 20 odd years!) but if anyone needs anything we can send in the post. We do the scarf wool for £1 as mentioned above and loads of other stuff. PM me if you need more info - sorry if this "advertising" isnt allowed on this forum but thought it may help some of you?!!

This is very exciting - let us know when the website is up and running!

If anyone is going abroad, wool can be quite cheap in certain places. I was in Lithuania before Christmas and Vilnius has quite a few nice wool shops and the wool was about half what it costs here.
  • I am an avid knitter and would reccommend https://www.knittinghelp.com as it's got some great videos on how to knit.

I'd also suggest keeping an eye on charity shops as there are often cheap needles and wool there.

You could make nice gifts by knitting some bath mitts and getting some nice soap. You could also try knitting some slippers!.

Here's some nice patterns to try:-
