I was reading this book that I bought this christmas..it was brilliant and one of the suggestions that it has on the book is to look for knitting needles from the charity shops....I got a couple of pairs today for 50p each...I am determined to complete different size needles sarting from the largest to the smallest diameter. I have inherited a good few sizes from an old lady a few years back...and I'm just filling in the gaps in the sizes.:p

You could go along to a knitting group, as I think someone has already mentioned. They're really not fuddy duddy at all (well, not the one's I've been to anyway!) and a good place to pick up hints and tips and ideas. The groups I run have an age range somewhere between 15 and 85ish and attract everyone from people who've never knitted to those who've been knitting for 60+ years!

You could try looking here for groups all over the country:

Just thought - Knitting Help is good if you're stuck for what to do with no one around to ask. It has little videos (works best if you're on broadband) of various techniques.

I only learnt to knit last year & a friend bought me this book for Xmas, it is very good with simple starter patterns & instructions & progressing onto more advanced stuff. Only hope the system doesn't delete the B word, if it does then it's Stitch & a female dog & available on Amazon!

I take it back:eek: DON'T use this book, last night mid way through following one of it's patterns I discovered that there were mathmatical erros in the pattern, presuamable mis-prints but so annoying mid way through a baby blanket with will now have to be totally unpicked:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
