MSE Spring-cleaning thought...?

Hi guys!
I wasn't quite sure where to stick this tbh (now, now! ) and if it's been posted before, my apologies. I'll also post this on OS Moneysavers board just in case.

I'm sure everyone knows about freecycle for the giving and receiving of unwanted items.
I wondered if we could have an MSE :money: version to post free helpful books, DVDs etc. on MSE - only topics/items or items that would help fellow posters, which people no longer want/need?
For example, new leaf was kind enough to post me a money-saving book she'd put up on the board last year and indeed, I will pass it on to another MSE fan.

So if you have any MSE helpful items - books, (NOT YOURS MARTIN!!! ), pamphlets, DVDs (like Fattitude -please Martin please! -for eg), or any kind of item that MSE forums deal with or would be helpful, could we post it somewhere on the forum to help MSE people first?
But no kitchen sinks or OHs!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Why not post it on the freebie board? Or how about posting on the relevant board itself - eg. if someone has some college text books, they could post it on the Students Moneysavers board?
I know the downside is postage but I'm sure Martin will pay!:D
Or maybe we could only post the offer if you can afford a couple of stamps?

As far as confidentiality goes, you only have to put the person's name first, their house number on the next line (Number xxx) and then on the third line the recipient's postcode -all of which the poster who wants it can PM you for free.

It seems a shame to let all that unfound knowledge left to sit on a shelf? It's spring-cleaning time, so it's a good opportunity - what do you think guys?
Best wishes to you all.
Much Love,
Tiff xxx

This one needs to go on the Site Feedback: Questions and suggestions board, so I'll move it across for you.

It's unlikey to be accepted though because of this rule:-
    EXCHANGING PERSONAL DETAILS

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
And the rule linked to there is this one:-
PERSONAL DETAILS AND THE OFFERING OF ITEMS FOR SALE/TRADE/EXCHANGE/SWAP/GIFTS

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.

If someone appears to be selling items on the board it may be deleted by the board guides/forum team. The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.

    Thank you squeaky and nearlyrich.
I'm sorry,I meant no offence. On reflection, it should have been better thought out. We don't want to stop or impede retail sales after all. I wish my idea could be adapted in some way. I just thought that it may stop some waste.
Ok so instead, on a lighter note - how about having The Great MSE Forum Charity Auction 2007 of goodwill donations from merchants (end of line stock?) with all benefits going to the MSE Martin's charities? :)

Seriously though, if you can't recycle through whatever means guys, there are many, many high street charity shops that would appreciate your items much more than the council tip would!;)

Note to self - add to New Year's resolution list - see what thinking does for you?! lol Don't have any more bright ideas like this one;) - I only have a quota of 3 for the whole year! rofl :)
    Apologies again guys.

Hey Tiff you didn't offend me at all, it would be a good idea but for the legal implications.

    It's a nice thought, Tiff. :)

People could always offer up their unwanted stuff through their local Freecycle site. You can join at www.freecycle.org and click on UK to find the local groups. :)
