Having some problems at home with neighbour who I believe has keyed my car. I have just recently passed my driving test and have bought myself a car. I live in a rented converted house that is turned into flats. The other day the neighbour on the top floor had his music blasting out till the early hours. He doesnt work, has no job prospects and has no respect for any of the other people living here. Anyway the neighbours complained to the landlord and he has now keyed my car during the daytime as payback. He must think I have complained or something and as no one else drives feels this is the way to deal with it. I am absolutly gutted only had the car 4 weeks. :(

Been advised to buy a cheap webcam with and set this up to my computer and record the footage if anyone walks past.

Can anyone reccomend a camera with Motion Detection and if possible night vision - as our street isnt very well lit.

Ideally wireless would be a good option as it will save me running a long usb extension cable from the bedroom to the lounge which is where the computer is located.

Also is there any cctv type software that would work with the camera and activate recording when the camera detects movement? I have searched google for a while and read through some older posts on here. On google the software that was coming up is paid for software but I read on the forums that you can obtain free software for what I am trying to do. Perhaps the webcam itself may come with some software that will do what I need it to?

Seen this which comes with software and looks quite good...

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Richard. :)

The probable answer for the lack of response is that there don't seem to be any 'cheap' external surveillance cameras available at present with the features you require. PCPro magazine has done a couple of reviews, one in this month's issue, and their website has this one. But it's not cheap.

I looked into this matter for our work's car park, and the conclusion was that we'd need to spend well over £1K to get an adequately decent (good resolution, zoom, works at night) one...

    Thanks for your reply John,

I am only covering a couple of meters out of the window I only want to get a feel of what is going on outside, what do you think to this link http://www.spycameracctv.com/spycamera/usb-receiver-wireless-day-night-infra-red-camera

This morning I have a tiny dint in the car on the left wing just where the wheel arch meets the door join its about the size of a finger tip, this certainly wasnt there yesterday. I believe this to be from one of the other neighbours letting his kids run wild and chase each other about with toys in their hands. The kid has obviously bashed into the side of the car squeezing past down the gate.

I am fuming that he lets his kids run wild around the car. Really dont know what to do or say. This car was almost perfect when I got it other than the wing mirror having scratches on it. cry.gif

Have you got an alarm on your car ? mine goes off if someone bangs into it .......... there must be a cheap way of setting up cctv as my now ex neighbour had 3 cameras on the back of his house and 3 on the front and they would'nt spend loads setting it up as they dont hav it and it showed up on there tv down stairs.........

I dont have an alarm and have been told to fit one half decent will cost quite a lot of money. During this time the culprits could run away from it by the time I get to the window. The cctv option will be best I think.
