looking at the sun 9.50 offers, but cant decide which scottish park to go to so am looking for some recommendations if you have actually been to any. Looking at online reviews but must only be bad reviews that get posted and not good! Anyway, anyone been to any of these?
Haven: Craig Tara / Seton Sands; Tummel Valley Pitlochry; Nairn Lochloy; Grannies Heilan Hame; Wemyss Bay; Sandlylands Ayr; Sundrum Ayr; Burrowhead; Auchenlarie or southerness dumfries
So if anyone knows/been to any of these parks it would be very helpful.
Thanks
p.s. we will be taking 2 adults, 2 children 3 & 7

I would say it would depend where you are travelling from. grannies heiland hame and nairn are quite far north (looking at 3-4 hours from glasgow or edinburgh.)
tummel valley is a quiet site..beautiful drive to pitlochry and stunning scenery.
craig tara is one which used to be a butlins...a lot of stuff going on there, much busier.
depends if you plan to stay on site or do other stuff too. seton sands would be ideal if you wanted to combine a visit to edinburgh....x x x0 -
thanks dogrose, have u bn 2 any? want somewhere with loads going on to keep kids amused....0

Can't help with parks as not stayed at any but location wise ...
Burrowhead is where the Wicker Man movie was filmed (burning the wickerman) and I hear the park itself is a bit of a dive to say the least. Locationwise though it is a very beautiful area - plenty of forests, sea and of course proximity to ferry to ireland. If you want to stay in the Dumfries and Galloway location. Auchenlarie is in the middle of the coastal area of D&G and would be the centre point between burrowhead and Southerness which is a Parkdean site.
Nairn Lochloy and Grannies Hellan Haine are near to the moray firth famous for sightings of dolphins etc.
There is a good website that I use when finding a holiday park which is http://caravan-sitefinder.co.uk/parks/ this might help yourself and anyone else decide which park to choose as it gives the parks' websites etc.
Wherever you decide I hope you have a great holiday.0 -
Ive been to southerness and wemyys bay! It cost us around £350 for the week at southerness! It a fair journey from where we lived because its near dumfries but it does have a beautiful long beach and some on site facilities!
Wemyys bay has good facilities and there are some very nice places you can travel to. From wemyys bay you can go on the ferry to an island near there. or places like largs are only a 15min drive away. Probably would reccomend wemyys bay its around 40mins from glasgow.
Edit - just saw you were taking childern yeah i would reccomd wemmys bay as im sure the children would enjoy going on the ferry and there are some good facilities there esp in the summer. And you can even get a train staright into the centre of glasgow if you fancy it.0 -
Craig tara has loads to do to keep the kids etertained all day, however it can be a bit dirty and unkempt looking. Loads of teens/young adults there so can get noisy/wild, in saying that we have been a few times for weekends as it is close to where we live. Seton sands is quiter but still loads to do and near to musselburgh which has shops and about half hour drive from edinburgh. not stayed at any others so can't comment on them.0

Just checked your post again - I would stay away from sandylands, quite a lot of crime there, caravans broken into, handbag stolen etc.0

Hi there,
I've been to Burrowhead and would say that there isn't much to keep the kids amused although the area is beautiful, and yes, it was a bit of a dump altough the caravan was immaculate and well stocked. I've also been to Sandylands and found that a bit of, well a lot of a dive and we ended up spending ££££'s on the ferry to Arran and Bute!
Thinking of going for Pitlochry this time.

I went to Grannies Heilan Hame, I went with my ex & to be honest it was a bit dated.. ie stuck in the 80's.
But hey we had a great time..
