Where to sell my stuff (not ebay)

Options
I am hoping some of you can help me, I am a beauty blogger and have cupboards full of stuff I would like to get rid of (perfumes, moisturisers, make-up etc). I thought about a car boot sale but as some of the products are quite high value I don't think it would be suitable.

Can anyone suggest somewhere else I can sell the stuff (not ebay as I want to get rid of as much as possible in one go).

Thanks so much

Your best bet is still I think to sell as a job-lot on eBay. Note the items have to be new (unused) but it is probably going to get you the maximum price.

  • the thing is I have way too much stuff and its all quite varied, I don't think anyone would buy the whole lot, which is why I was thinking along the lines of a car boot sale or something similar.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't need the money urgently, I'd be patient and list in batches on ebay, because boot sale prices are so low. You might run up against selling limits if you list too many perfumes at once.

Or find somewhere that would let you put up a table for a percentage of your sales? Do you live in an area with fairly well-off mothers at a local primary school?

Are there not at least batches of stuff? (one lot of eyeshadow, one lot of lipstick/lipgloss, one lot of foundation etc.)

At carboot sales you'll practically give stuff away, and there is little outlet for private sellers to sell very much elsewhere on the internet, even in bulk.

Without just selling as a job-lot, there's no guarantee that single items will sell in as quick a time as you want to clear them.

JOb lot on ebay, someone who has a market stall/regular carbooter etc etc will be tempted. Upload loads of pictures (photobucket is free) and ensure you have an accurate description. I would also box everything up after you have taken the photos and before listing it to get an accurate postage cost.

Other than ebay as a job lot you only other option is to sell in small batches / singles which is going to take longer. Carboots are low value and you wont see many people paying much for high value items, gumtree job lot maybe another option.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • Thanks so much for everyones advice, it sounds like selling it as a job lot is the way to go. Can I just get a bit more advise on this?

    Question part 1
As I have literally hundreds of products in my cupboard do you have any advice on how many products I should include in these job lot packages? 10, 20, 50, items? Any personal experience on what works best?

    Question part 2
Should I keep the job lot packages all the same sort of products for example all body lotions and then another one all hair products OR should I mix them up so they are getting a varied mixture of products?

    Question part 3
As all the things vary in price, should I try and keep similar priced products in each bulk package, so everything for £5 together, everything for £10 together (so I could say for example 20 x body lotions worth £5 each) or does it not matter if the prices vary as long as I list the prices of each product?

    Question part 4
When I list what is included, should I put the original retail price next to each item with a TOTAL Value?

    LASTLY
How much should I reduce the total by? Obviously I want to get as much money as possible (but I imagine if they are selling it on then so do they, hehe).

Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate your help.
  • Another option, I have had quite a lot of success selling things on Face book, if you look for your local area there might be a group near you. Then they can come and look and you dont have to worry about any INR claims or not as described cases.
Although on ebay you will always have a much larger audience.

If you go the Facebook route, then you can set up a nice display of your wares so as people arrive to buy the one they saw on f/b they can then see what else you have to sell. If you are a good salesperson then you can easily sell them more stuff than they came for.

I sometimes use the swapshop in Yahoo Groups. They list by county.
  • thanks guys, I think I will probably try the ebay route first as it should be easier for people to find the products.

any advice on my above questions would be great.

    Cheers
