Hello, looking for a little advice please. I am now in a lot of pain and find myself spending too long in bed. I am looking for a comfortable chair for downstairs (himself has 'hogged' the sofa and the cats have taken the footstool. - I know how pathetic this sounds....
I thought of a recliner; perhaps with a massage thing? Himself has suggested a chaise lounge but we don't have any space and I am worried something like that is too low and I'll never get up from it.
Any recommendations please? Thanks (no leather please).

It really depends on your body shape. The best thing to do is to go out and try some. I don't recommend the massage oines as they are really just a gimmick in my opinion, but hot water bottles and a comfortable seat with an electronic recliner may do the trick.0

Thats just what I am wondering about too Kurgon if they are worth it or not. (I tend to have a hot water bottle with me most of the time too).0

I have a wonderful recliner from DFS. I went around and tried many chairs in many shops and this was the best for my needs. It is just so comfortable I have to share it with Molly and my pesky kids somedays:eek:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

The absolute only recliner/ chair that helps both myself and my husband is the lazyboy. It reclines normal position and also reclines right back while fully supporting you if you need a nap, and you din't need to leave the chair to recline it to both positions.
It cost a lot but we saved for a couple of years to invest in it to help with pain and this is the one we have. http://www.lazyboy.co.uk/La-Z-Boy-Rocker-Recliners/La-Z-Boy-Denver-Recliner/prod_69.html
It will last a good long time though, its all pocket sprung underneath and is excellent for support. The leather is very good quality but is soft so if you have pets, you nay need to use a cover.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
I think the Celebrity range of recliner chairs are good value,Well made. They come in a range of sizes and there is a good range of fabrics.
Lazyboy's are good chair's well worth looking at.
DFS I would avoid,to many chops and changes in their ranges so long term parts supply is suspect, and you will need parts.0 -

I have an electric rise & recline chair as I have rheumatoid arthritis and can't manage low chairs & struggle with pulling/pushing levers. Mine came from a local furniture shop and the price was as good or better than those advertised on the web at the time.
As the chair was needed for my disabilities it was VAT exempt - I just had to fill in a form in the shop.
You are not being pathetic at all, I tried to do without as it seemed greedy to spend money "just" to be comfortable, but it has truely been worth every penny! (it also made me realise that for the last 20-odd years DH had had a monopoly on the single armchair & I'd sat on the sofa with the kids - talk about the 1950s!)I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Seating and beds shouod never ever be considered a luxury and you should always get good quality the best you can afford. After all, an average person spends one third of their life in bed and probably same sitting, so the quality of these are more important than other household items.
When you add disabilities into the mix through pain, it is vital that the right items are chosen. Sadly, some spend more on a TV than a proper supportive bed, or chair.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
