Has anyone ever flown with Air Europa?

Any good/bad experiences to share? I'm flying Gatwick to Madrid then Madird to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) on saturday and i'm a bit worried by some of the reviews i've read online, mainly regarding lost luggage and luggage being tampered with.

I know people are more likely to report a bad experience than a good one but does anyone have anything to add?

Thanks in advance!

Lost luggage/tampering is not necessarily any airlines direct fault, it is the airport owners who normally supply the baggage services so wrong luggage routing is down to their systems, tampering could also be done by other on airport people.

When I do have checked luggage I put inside the case, outbound flight number, date, destination and hotel name, inbound same except replace hotel name with postcode. Takes just a couple of minutes to write in bold felt tip or print large bold, on a computer.

Air Europa...omg....are they still flying.......are they still using old Dan Air planes?
you know........the ones with the outside toilets
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!
  • Flew with them ages ago but can't remember any problems.

You'll find stories about any airline. The reality is that if an airline is really that bad, its unlikely that they'll still be trading.

Thanks everyone, that's put my mind at rest :) I'll definately do as you advised aerostar, thanks for the tips.

I wish I could do hand luggage only but a week in the sun requires a lot of girly things!

Well i'm happy to report that it all went very smoothly, no lost luggage, easy connections, and pleasant staff. Just goes to show that internet reviews don't always mean a lot! (would have appreciated food and/or a movie but you get what you pay for!)

I have never tried them myself, but know someone who uses them all the time, to fly to Argentina via Madrid. They used to be a lot cheaper than other airlines. He has no complaints, but bear in mind that having to change flights means you might have a long wait at the airport if the first flight is delayed and you miss your connection. That can happened with any airline though, and it's happened to him a couple of times. In your case, not being a long haul flight, it would not be so taxing.
    Good luck and report back!
