Getting foreign currency whilst on board ship

We are going on our first cruise to the Baltic. On board will be a Bureau de Change. What is the best way to get foreign currency, ie Kronar, Rouble, Euro? Should we pay by sterling, debit card, or get it before we go?

Use cheap plastic, then withdraw from ATMs when you come into port. Easy0

Ships normally give a much poorer exchange rate than you would get elsewhere. As suggested, you would probably be better using a card to get currency at each port from an ATM. Even if your card is not one of the best, the rate you get is still likely to be better than the ship's.0
