Is this right? Monthly Direct Debits

Hi All
My other half has a contract with T Mobile which he pays monthly.
He gets paid on the 15th of the month and likes to plan for everything to leave his account around that date so he knows how much £ he has for the rest of the month.
They have told him he can have the direct debit on either 30th of the month or 2nd or something like that, they will only let him have one of those two dates which are not suitable, however they are happy for him to phone up on 15th/16th and pay by card?!
He has been doing this but its not very convenient and im worried if he misses any payments he might suffer.
Can they do this? Does this sound right?
Thanks

Im on Tmobile approx half way through a 2 year contract and my dd is set up for the 15th of each month and normaly comes out some 3 days after this date, why not just set it fot the 2nd and then he wont get a missed dd fee.
If he is bad at managing money then the debit/credit card is the only way !
I cant remember about the dd date when I set up but think I to was given an option of the 2nd or 15th0 -
Yes, they are not doing anything wrong at all.
Can your OH not just be more organised with his finances so that he doesn't have to rely on all transactions occurring at the correct time?
It's very simple to maintain a float in your account to buffer all the incoming and outgoing transactions such that you don't need to worry about going overdrawn or exactly when you get paid.0 -
Thank you for letting me know
It was just a query really, he is going through a difficult patch at the mo and this would have been helpful, but never mind.0 -
If necessary he could always have two current accounts.
Salary paid into account A.
Direct debits from account B.
Once a month as soon as he gets paid he transfers across enough money to account B to cover all of the next months direct debits. That way he effectively combines all direct debits into one transaction and maintains control over when that transaction takes place.0 -
Does his bill vary or does he have the same bill every month? Mine doesnt change at all and I set a SO to pay mine because of this reason.... I check my bill every month just to make sure I dont have any extra charges that I will need to add on but it has worked for me for 7 months .... just remember tho that he controls the SO not the company so it wont vary inline with his usage so is ONLY suitable if his contract amount stays the same and he never goes over his minutes etc x hth xx0
