Keyboard typing wrong letters

Hi all

I have a samsung n130 netbook and probably should have known better but let the grandkids play on it.

Big mistake.

Just spent an enternity trying to get the screen to be the correct way up and thought I had sorted it.

The problem now is all my keys don't do what they're supposed to.

c=u
f=y
g=f
h=o
k=n
j=[

Some of them are okay but I don't know how to get them back like they were.

Any help much appreciated.

    Try NUMLOCK or Fn + NUMLOCK :)

    Alternatively check the keyboard layout in Control Panel > Region and language, in the Keyboard bit
  • Thanks for the reply.

    There doesn't appear to be a numlock on the keyboard though, unless its a little symbol under the function keys and i'm missing it.

    Don't think netbooks have numlocks the same as normal keyboards.

    Some of the F keys have functions that are used with the control key - they may have pressed one of these.

    First thing to do is shut down and re-start. This usually clears any weird instructions or non standard settings.

    Personally I'd do that ^ first, make sure it's set to a normal UK keyboard.
  • Thanks i'll try that now

    Fn + F11 on the N130 is for num lock.

    My netbook has a proper numlock. Some do, some don't.

    Oh yes, missed the bit about children playing with it - they could have swapped the keys round, on most keyboards they can be removed and replaced.
  • Right i've retstarted and taht hasn't solved it.

    Currently in the regional/language settings and it lloks like its set for english united kingdom

    but can't see anything that says uk keyboard

    apart from in the advance theres a code page conversion table with loads of stuff ticked like 10000 mac roman

    10081 mac turkish
    10082 mac croatia

    I'm stumped
  • Tried the function and key and f11 and nope didn't do it.

    I've asked the 3 year old whats he's pressed but unfortunately his favourite answer is why, my days lol
