Record from SKY box

Hi

I have Sky box in my room, just the basic free channels you get with it, im not paying for any subscription for any channels.

I wanted to know if it was possible to record from the sky box with out getting sky+

I have been searching online and on here and i have come accross people recomending pvr boxes, but most of them you can only record from freeview/freesat channels only, I wanted to record from sky as there are some channels on sky which not available on freeview/freesat

I dont need freeview or freesat, just a hardrive recorder which i can plug the sky box in and then record on to it

Is this possible and can you please recomend any boxes

Yes,all you need is to connect the SCART from the Sky into whatever you buy then record from the AV channel on the recording equipment,sorry I can't reccomend any as I use Sky+ or my VCR.

so il need a player/recorder which has 2 scarts, as 1 wont work, i will need to plug sky in one scart and then use other scart to connect player to tv

Yes or you could use an RF lead to connect the recorder to the TV,but then the picture wouldn't be so good.

This would work for most channels but wouldnt work with Pay Per View which prevents VCRs/ PVRs/ DVDRs from working

What you need is a recorder that will record from external inputs - usually only DVD or DVD/HDD recorders.

One scart socket on the recorder will work if you connect that to the socket labelled VCR on the Sky box and the TV connected to the Sky box TV scart. When the Sky box is switched to standby it will "pass through" the signal from the recorder to the TV and when the Sky box is switched on the TV will display the Sky box.
