What's the best VPN/Proxy service to watch Sky Sports, when I'm away?

Options
Hi all,
I'm often in Denmark and would like to access Sky Sports to watch football. I have a full subscription (not multiroom) in the UK, and I've heard that a lot of free proxy servers are unreliable, so I don't mind paying a little for a fast, reliable service.

Could anyone recommend a vpn that would do the trick or direct me to a website that's done a side-by-side comparison of different services?

Thanks.

  • You cant use sky player or one of the official applications given you say you are a legitimate subscriber?

Have you looked at a slingbox?

Or since what you plan to do probably isn't any different than watching it through one of the "Watch free football online" sites, you might as well just do that.

As far as I'm aware, you can't use Sky Player abroad

The rest of my family will be watching other channels. As far as I'm aware, with Slingbox, if I want to view a channel in Denmark, they will simultaneously have to watch the same channel in the UK.
The problem with the free footy sites is they can be a bit laggy and ads pop-up all over the place!

I'll check out TunnelBear. Any other suggestions?
How can I make an effective comparison?

You may be able to set up your own VPN, check your router and see if it allows you to set up a VPN connection. My Draytek does and I use this to watch the BBC iPlayer whilst travelling.

For Sky it is far better to use a Slingbox. I have a Slingbox Solo and it is great.

I have been living in Asia for a few years now and the best VPN (tried 4 so far) seems to be Witopia.net

It costs $39 a year if using just Windows, same for just Macs or if you want one that covers Windows, Macs and iPhone it's about $69.

You can use it to log on through something like 35 countries and 256 bit security Connections are available to make online banking secure too if you use that.

No problems using it for iPlayer or ITV Player and had it working for over 1 year with no downtime at all

Sounds like pretty good value. Do you know if it's likely to work with Sky Sports?
Due you use it a lot?
Other than that, this sounds like a pretty solid recommendation :)

Witopia, I use it from the far east to connect to iPlayer and similar. However www.my2p2.eu is ok to watch the sports
