You have only two options:
- Appeal to the provider's generosity and goodwill. Ask for a reduction and a payment plan. I guess your phone is pretty new and not a cheap one. Sell it and use a basic handset for a few pounds instead. Use the proceedings to pay Orange.
- Cancel the DD and have your credit history trashed and debt collectors knocking on your door soon.
Next time don't take contracts that you cannot afford in the worst case scenario.0 -
Orange will not offer any reduction, nor a payment plan. The third option is to cancel now and pay up the ETC-this will be the full amount owing for the remaining months, but minus the VAT-so you'll save 20% that way. However, if you are paying for the airtime contract anyway, you might as well use it once you have sold the handset and bought a cheapo one.
The only ways to void a mobile contract are death or bankruptcy. Changes in personal circumstances do not count. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
