Refund on unused train-tickets

Hi guys. I booked some advance (RETURN) tickets Newcastle to London few days ago. 1Adult2Child. However I no longer need them due to some circumstances. I really wana get my money back besides its going to be waste of money if i don't. I called (MYTRAINTICKETS.CO.UK) where i bought the tickets from, they say with advance tickets its Non-refundable.

Do you know if there is any other way i could go on about this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    The clues in the name
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • sell them on gumtree (Ebay don't allow train ticket sales). Depending on when the tickets are for, a student going back to uni might buy the adult portion.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

You didn't buy advance return tickets because such things don't exist. I assume you bought advance singles in each direction, which are not refundable. You can however change the date on them at the cost of £10 a ticket and any difference in fare , as long as you do so before the originally booked departure.

If you really did buy return tickets then they are refundable - again a £10 fee

What's the ticket type printed on the ticket? (top left)

I'm not sure. I havent collected them yet from the station. I didn't have no idea if they were refundable or not, i didn't ever have to refund them or change them its the first time. When I spoke to them I was told they were advance non-refundable. And they are return tickets.

I've actually tried selling them on Gumtree earlier on. They removed my add saying i can't resell them? Its a bit odd cos i've used the website before.

Sorry, they can't be both advance and return. It's impossible.

If they are advance they are not refundable, if they are return they are not advance.

Reselling rail tickets is illegal. Presumably some jobsworth from a train company has pointed this out to gumtree, and they now remove any they find.

Funny if its illegal. Honestly i think if someones changed their mind for whatever reason it should be refundable. At the end of the day someones paid for those tickets, and they don't come cheap! It should be refundable if its unused, also they should allow re-selling them. Their so selfish! Obviously theres not point stating this on here. But it had to be said!!!
