    Hi,
I'm a lurker too, read your posts but dont contribute.

anyway I've been suffering from depression for most of my life but only get treatment when its really really bad. but recently I;ve gone into meltdown and just couldnt cope at all.

been seeing a doctor for several weeks now - not my own cos I cant ever seem to get an apopointment with her less than 2 weeks ahead!!
saw different one today and he was fantastic. hes upped my meds and is going to refer me for counselling ( i think) any was to see a mh professional.

I've seen one before but he was so bad and told me to pull myself together and I didnt go back. and antoher one when I took an OD when i was younger in the hospital who wasnt very good either.

I just hope things get better cos I cant feel like this every day. I feel so desperate and I wish there was a magic wand to stabilise me. Generally I can cope with my general depression and suicidal thoughts but the panic attacks and severe depression and stress is killing me. I cant see how I will ever be able to cope with going back to work ( and I doubt I will actually get any work from them anyway as its an agency and my MH problems are now out in the open).

hope you dont mind me sharing this with you all - I just felt the need to talk and theres no-one here I want to share this with ( my adult sons dont need the extra burden at the moment cos theyve all got their own problems to deal with)

hope the meds kick in soon

    take care everyone

    Hello Pudds!!:j

Well done for posting, the first one is always the hardest :p

It's good that you have been refered to see a counsellor as it's a small step into helping you with depression. I think you should put other experiences with previous consellors behind, because obviously the ones you saw were inept.

Dont we all wish we had the magic wand though :o;)

the meds will kick in soon and your general thoughts of suicide and panic etc do subside a bit but be paitent it takes a fortnight or so to kick in. Are there things that YOU could do that could help control feelings panic attacks, severe depression and stress. For example when i get stressed or anxious i get on my push bike and go for a good hard bike ride until I am tired out. Creative things like paintings and poems could also help. Your counsellor will be able to give you more medical help than I can anyways ;)

Never worry about sharing things with us people will help and if you dont wish to share with us then there are places like Samaritans or MIND that are dedicated to helping people with mental health problems

Put in an application for jobseekers, Its not something I want to do but the job seeking is taking a ridiculous amount of time to sort out.

I've been for interviews, second interviews, returned calls, handed in documents and done everything i could on time, its got to be a two way thing, i have to be reliable and do everything i can, turn up to interviews on time for example, but the company has to have an ounce of integrity and competence and return calls. Or at least let me know in the timescales promised.
    Hi ltd!:hello:
    How are you now hun?
I can hear your frustration angel - but we've been here before, haven't we sweetheart?;)
And because of this hun, you know this is just a hitch while the world tries to catch up with you. Get off the hamster wheel angel - you try so hard, it must be exhausting.:o Don't panic yet hun - a lot of delays are caused by the 4-5 day Easter holidays. ;)

You know how talented you are ltd and something will come through when it's right. It's hard when we have big plans but other people can't respond to them as quickly as we want them to hun. But that's the way it is sometimes ltd.
Try and be patient angel - and get yourself out into the sunshine hun. By the time you get a call, you'll be too exhausted to start the job. Tiff orders some r and r for you.:T It'll be all right hun - trust me, I'm a Tiff.;)
Take care hun and have a great weekend.hug.gif

    Hi lrs!:hello:
    How's you hun?
Sorry hun - I read in chronological order and skipped you. Guess I'm having trouble telling the difference between my ltd, lrs, and ltf-s! :D
I'm gutted about the cats lrs - gutted, I tell you!:D
Football? Beer? You really are a student!;)
Now you know what Tiff's going to say about taking meds (if you're on them) and drinking, don't you hun?nono.gif:o
Easier said than done angel, but try not to get too worked up about it. Make it a timetabled thing for revision and stick to it as you would an assignment that's due in.;)
You just sounded a bit low to me hun so I hope all is well. You know where we are if you need us.;)
    Have a great weekend angel.hug.gif

    Hi pudds!:hello:
welcome.gifback hun. It doesn't matter if you lurk or post angel. Some people lurking find answers to their problems from the answers given to other people's problems. Well done for posting hun.:T Let's go through this a piece at a time angel - it's the only way I can think!:D ;)

    Hi,

anyway I've been suffering from depression for most of my life but only get treatment when its really really bad. but recently I;ve gone into meltdown and just couldnt cope at all.
You say you only get treatment hun when it's really bad. May I ask if that's your choice or the drs angel? Do you have patterns of depression that you see hun?

been seeing a doctor for several weeks now - not my own cos I cant ever seem to get an apopointment with her less than 2 weeks ahead!!
Just a quick note here guys - if you are in a desparate state, feeling suicidal, self-harm, please call your surgery and ask to speak to your gp. Tell the receptionist why - that will make all the difference usually.;)

saw different one today and he was fantastic. hes upped my meds and is going to refer me for counselling ( i think) any was to see a mh professional.
Oh that's great that you've found a sympathetic dr hun - it's half the battle sometimes.;) As well as an assessment for counselling, you may have a seperate one for the MH services like psychology or psychiatry etc. Have you ever had a CPN or a Social Worker angel? I'll just remind you here hun how very important it is to be completely open and honest with the professionals so that you get the help that's right for you. They've seen and heard it all before hun.;)

I've seen one before but he was so bad and told me to pull myself together and I didnt go back. and antoher one when I took an OD when i was younger in the hospital who wasnt very good either.
I become a very ticked off Tiff when I hear things like this. No-one wants our mental ill health! If it was as easy as pulling ourselves together, we'd have done it by now!!! Sorry hun, Tiffy rant over with, hackles going back down!:o ;) I'm hoping that you will now find most drs sympathetic as opposed to when you were a child.

I just hope things get better cos I cant feel like this every day. I feel so desperate and I wish there was a magic wand to stabilise me.
And so say all of us angel. I admire anyone with mental ill health for the way they keep getting up and surviving. I can relate to how you feel hun - I posted something similar yesterday to another lady. It's cruel how it can affect not just the person but also their quality of life and how other people treat them! Erm...I'm ranting again, aren't I?:o

Generally I can cope with my general depression and suicidal thoughts but the panic attacks and severe depression and stress is killing me. Angel, it sounds like you manage your mental health issues very well :T - more than you should be in fact!
The panic attacks and stress and suicidal thoughts need help hun. Please call someone before you ever get that desperate angel. You have done the right thing by contacting the gp you saw. He will be your gateway hun to all kinds of available services that may be suitable for you. That's why it's always important to keep him up to date hun.;)

I cant see how I will ever be able to cope with going back to work ( and I doubt I will actually get any work from them anyway as its an agency and my MH problems are now out in the open).
I know it's hard angel, but if you can't go back to work through your mental ill health, then you can't. Don't get upset about it angel. hug.gif Millions can't work due to all kinds of ill health - it doesn't matter what kind.;)

It's good that your mental health issues are out in the open sweetie. You hold your head up girl!:T You're a true survivor and you're still trying! That, my dear, is amazing!

It is illegal for an employer to discriminate against you on mental health grounds angel. There are rules and laws to apply if they even try it.

If you even suspect that hun, I'd advise contact with CAB and you may also want to contact your nearest Mental Health clinic and ask them for the phone number of your local Mental Health Advocate. They know the law inside out and can advise and support you in all aspects of your life affected by mental ill health.

Another invaluable service is MIND who have all kinds of information, legal and otherwise, and they have a website too where you can download information sheets.

I can also tell you that if you want to and are able to work, there is a government agency that helps you to do it. They would take into account any special circumstances you have and work with you. This applies also to disabled people or people who are long term sick. There is similar assistance for most educational places too.
So you see angel, you may think the doors are closed shut but really they're only ajar.;)

The other thing I'd suggest angel is that as this is such a long term and recurring issue, you may want to look into claiming Disability Living Allowance. I'll try and post something about this over the weekend.;)

hope you dont mind me sharing this with you all - I just felt the need to talk and theres no-one here I want to share this with ( my adult sons dont need the extra burden at the moment cos theyve all got their own problems to deal with)

hope the meds kick in soon

    take care everyone
    pudds quote
One thing I may say angel, is that don't hide it from your grown up family. You raised them and they would want to help you I'd imagine.
I hate to think of my mum struggling and she doesn't tell you anything - I have to go playing Sherlock Holmes! ;)
And her first words are, "Well I didn't want to bother anyone - you've all got enough to deal with." !!!

You, and anyone else, are more than welcome to post here whenever you want to.;) The guys here are patient and kind and so helpful.:A I'm sorry for the length of my post guys. ;) Anyway, I hope you're feeling better soon hun. Try and relax as much as you can ok? Take care angel.hug.gif

    Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been about much last 2 days. I confessed that I was feeling a bit down and stressed out so people have been 'entertaining me'!! Anyway, back on my own now. Looking forward to another Friday night on my tod. Hubby is working till 10.30. Can't wait for tomorrow, when I get to see him all day.

Anyway, today hasn't been too bad. Read a book in one sitting. Then put a couple of movies on and started a jigsaw puzzle. It will probably end up sitting on my dining table for 2 weeks until I get fed up of looking at it unfinished and just put it back in the box, but it gave me something to do this afternoon!!

Not feeling too bad. Hubby has been making sure I take my meds everyday, which helps. I am terrible for forgetting them and it does make me feel really low if I haven't taken them.

Not much planned for the weekend. Might be going to sister in laws for a BBQ tomorrow if the weather is nice (and they can buy a BBQ, they are going out in the morning to look for one!)

    Anyone else got any plans?
Sorting my life out to give a better life to my
