Hi lostsoul ,welcome to the thread.Your symptons do sound as if you may be suffering from depression and i think your idea of going back to the doctor and "uploading" is a good one, if medication and councelling helped before it will again.I can relate to so many of your problems so do not think you are the only one to feal like this.I think people who suffer from depression are more sensative than most and feal their life experiances more deeply than the people who can just go with the flow.I do think your relationship is the thing which is at the heart of your problems, they usualy are,we are not meant to be alone.I and another member of this board have the same problem, not being able to get someone out of our heads.I do not know the answer maybe we will only get them out of our heads when someone else comes along to replace them, easier said than done i know. Also stopping contact does make things a little easier but it is having the strength to do that. Here is a quote from a friend of mine which i thought made a lot of sense--"We live for and in the moment, the feelings of euforia ride through out hearts and heads untill we see nothing more than the person we have fixated on. The climb is short but steep and when we reach the top, the fall is horriffic and long, time will pass but the thoughts remain, pain eases but never goes untill we find a new fixation and start the circle again"Hope i have made some sort of sense. If you keep reading the thread Tiff may be along later, she is very good at breaking things down into small managable steps.
  • wow that Quote makes so much sense and sums relationships up perfectly. Maybe I should send her that.

Hi lostsoul and thank you for posting. First of all - big hugs!:) I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but even the very fact that you had the courage to write down your feelings means that you can sense there is a way forward and you want to make a start in that direction. Hold on to that - there is help, and way out of the maze for you.

It is down to your doctor hun to make a diagnosis of depression, or of anything else for that matter. But it can be a common feature of depression that it makes us doubt ourselves and our abilities, and then suddenly we find ourselves questioning the various aspects of our lives - be it work, relationships, friendships, even pastimes and hobbies that we normal love can lose their appeal. But then we start to view these things as one giant obstacle that we think we can never overcome, and we doubt that we'll ever make progress, never get better. But we can get better. Every one of the lovely posters on this thread has struggled with depression and knows it is not easy, but things do get better with time. At our lowest points that seems a long way off, but it does come, lostsoul.

First thing you need to do is see your doctor hun. Give them as much information as you can about how your are feeling - then you're giving them the best chance to devise a treatment programme that will work for you. May also be worth asking about restarting the counselling - there are may still be issues you need to talk through regarding your ex, but in general terms it can help you see the wood for the trees again, to seperate all the issues that are causing you concern, so that you can deal with each of them in a more manageable way and that in turn helps you see a way forward again.

Sorry if I've rambled a bit there lostsoul!:) The key thing to remember is that
you are not alone - you can to chat to us on here anytime. Take good care.

    Much love,
    Sazxx
