Help please

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice regaurding fraud on my mobile phone.

At the end of july i put in the notcie for mine and my partners old phone contracts to be cancelled(i.e giving our notice to end).

Last week i received a letter in the post which was an invoice stating my partners old number had been upgraded, so we called vodafone and sure enough someone had got in touch with vodafone and reinstated the contract - which i am so annoyed at as i had already cancelled the contract!!

Then about an hour ago, i receive an email, and sure enough someone has done the same to my old number, again that i had already cancelled.

Vodafone are only taking responsibility for the fraud but o think its disgraceful that they wont offer any compensation as it has happened to me and my partner, even after we had canceled the contracts.

On a far greater note, i am more worried about wether anything else is going on and what lettes/emails i am now going to recieve and is there anything i can do to see if anything else has happened, or to stop it happenening?? Vodafone have offered to put a pin on my account s why have i not been ofered that in the past 4 years i have been a customer???

Many thanks for any help you an give

A very stressed and annoyed Kelly!!!

If you are seeking compensation then you need to show how much you have lost and that Vodafone were responsible for the loss.

Personally, I think your first action should be to urgently find out how the fraudsters got your details in order to pretend to Vodafone that they were you.

Sounds like someone got hold of one of your Voda bills. What do you do with them after you get them?
Or someone you've told that you were cancelling?

You cannot cancel your partners contract. They have to do that.

    Let's unpack this.

    1. To whom did you give notice - Vodafone themselves or a 3rd party?

    2. How did you do this - phone call, email, letter?

    3. Did you want to retain your old numbers?

has this ever happened to you...i think you'l find its very destressing, now not knowing what else is being taken out in my name, vodafone told me that once they have my details i can do nothing, its not like i can change my date of birth, address ect!!!

andas for a compnay, i had told them i wanted it cancels so why do they willingly give another one out without even double checking, if i didnt have a £1 in my bank when they do checks i wouldnt get a contract, its a flaw in their system, which if they had tried varifying that i wanted it, rather than just giving it, they would save themselves loads of money - uit would have only took a phone call to my home number which they have!

i would love to know, vodafone said they called them, but apart from that they are not telling me much.
Aparently my partners vodafone rang them, but the sim card for the number has not been in a phone for over 2 months!!! not sure how they managed that
