Samsung Tocco Lite Help needed

I have just had a new Samsung Tocco Lite and need some help with the settings on the text messaging. When I send a text even if it is just a short one, it splits it and sends 1 of 2 messages being sent. How do I change the length of it, I am using all my text allowance up quicker than I should.
