I guess I will go with Virgin (I've used Be in the past though, really nice ISP). Are you normally able to sign up as a new customer if you have moved house?

Thanks for all the advice. :) The exchange has quite a few LLU providers so got a bit of choice.

You'd do better to do a transfer if you are still in contract though, otherwise you'll be hit with an ETC from your existing contract.
Remember that with VM, if you have changed anything in the last 12m, you will have commenced a new minimum term contract.

Sorry i'll holds me hands up, my wording should be altered to something on the lines that only the larger are listed when your phone number is tapped in.

I did get a link off it some where and will try and find. The biggies are listed with direct links.

I haven't changed it since October 2009 so should be ok on that count.

I'd go with an ISP that doesn't throttle your download quite so ridiculously.. (check original link in my first post)

Best to check double check what kind the line speed is available at your new place on the De facto BT Wholesale line check tool. As qpop & M_I_H noted.

It might swing things towards cable if a normal phone line is only capable of a few megs?
If the line can handle 8-10megs & upwards then it becomes a different matter :)

Have to echo the other posters on LLU. If the line is above 8-10megs then LLU via Be* or one of the niche CPW resellers such as Xilo* is the way to go for low latency unrestricted & end user controllable broadband.

Plus if things go wrong ,the *support team(s) are easy to get hold of & know their stuff. An area where the more "popular" ISP's really let themselves down.
    Cheers
