Mobile phone using Wifi in USA

Wondering if anyone can please advise. My daughter in on monthly sim with Tesco 5000 texts and 150 mins. She also has wifi on her phone so of course can use this in the house.

We are staying in New York and the hotel offers free wifi, would this work the same as at home and she wouldn`t be charged anything despite being in US, or should I suggest she leaves her phone at home. We understand all about texts and calls its just the wifi we are not sure about.

If the phone is connected to WiFi mobile data connection is not used and this doesn't cost you anything. To avoid unpredictable charges for background connections make sure that the mobile internet is permanently switched off.

Brilliant thank you, the mobile internet is switched off I got Tesco to do that - when she was in Paris with the school and thought she would try it out!!! least said about that the better! It just means she can keep in contact with her friends without getting the netbook out all the time and without it costing me any more money.

Just as long data roaming is switched off you have nothing to worry about, usually Wi-Fi in other countries is a million times better than here in the UK as well
